An outpatient program serving the special mental health needs of women.
Services include consultation and treatment during pregnancy, prevention
and treatment of postpartum depression, guidance with parenting issues,
support for pregnancy loss and infertility, help with unplanned pregnancy,
treatment for premenstrual syndrome, help with sexual problems, support
for menopause and hysterectomy, adoption counseling, and support and counseling
for domestic violence.

The Travel Resource Center at Mount Auburn Hospital specializes in a wide

An eight-week educational program that teaches participants how to understand,
identify, and cope more effectively with stress.
STRESS COUNSELING

An evaluation and treatment program that helps individuals understand,
identify, and cope more effectively with stress anxiety, panic, sadness,
pain, insomnia, and related physical disorders, or with the stressful
demands of chronic illness. Relaxation and biofeedback techniques may
be used to gain more self-control over such physical symptoms as headaches,
gastrointestinal distress, and Raynaud's disease.

The EAP provides professional help in a strictly confidential manner to
employees having marital and family problems, emotional stresses, alcohol
and other drug related problems, career issues, and legal and financial

types of treatment available for breast cancer as well as strategies for
coping with the illness.

A support group for women who are dealing with issues relating to this
surgery and how it impacts one's life.
DIABETES EDUCATION

For patients and their families. An eight-week educational program led
by a certified diabetic educator provides weekly meetings devoted to each
aspect of good glucose control. Sessions with a podiatrist, dietician,
endocrinologist, and exercise specialists are included.
BEREAVEMENT GROUP

People who have lost a loved one may experience feelings of loss, grief,
anger, depression, or isolation. These feelings can often heal more quickly
if the survivors know that others share their pain and that they are not
alone.

The Mount Auburn Hospital Blood Bank welcomes blood donations from volunteer
donors and from those wishing to donate for their own, non-emergency surgery.
Anyone interested in becoming a blood donor may call the Blood Bank for
more information or to make an appointment.
PARENT EDUCATION
PREPARED CHILDBIRTH SERIES

This six-week series teaches expectant couples about pregnancy, labor,
delivery, and the early days of parenting. It provides information on
both the physical and emotional aspects of labor and birth, relaxation
and breathing techniques, and medical intervention/caesarean births. A
Pediatric Forum, where a pediatrician answers questions about newborn
care, is included.
WEEKEND SEMINAR CHILDBIRTH CLASS

Covers the complete six-week course in one weekend - from 10:00 AM to
3:00 PM, Saturday and Sunday. This version continues to be very popular,
especially for couples who have busy schedules, travel extensively, live
a distance from the hospital, or are in school during weekday evenings.

A two-week class is offered to experienced parents. Topics include incorporating
the new baby into the family structure and a review of labor and delivery,
as well as relaxation and breathing techniques.
NEW MOTHERS' SUPPORT

This six-week series involves mothers approximately six weeks postpartum
and their new infants. An instructor provides information about infant
care, infant/child development, as well as feeding methods.

A two-hour class on the practice of breast-feeding. Through discussion,
video, and slide presentations, you will gain a clear understanding of
breast-feeding techniques. Information is provided by a childbirth educator
with special training in breast-feeding counseling. Breast pump rentals
are available.
SIBLING CLASS

The sibling class helps prepare children for the many changes a baby can
bring to a household. Parents will also learn ways to help their children
adjust to the new arrival. A tour of the maternity unit and nursery is
included.

for the treatment of compulsive gambling. Specialized help for problem
gamblers and their families on an individual, couple, and/or group basis.
Treatment is provided by a team of mental health professionals experienced
in the treatment of compulsive gambling.
