It has become increasingly clear that todays youth are continually
at risk for engaging in unhealthy behaviors that can impact their lives.
Alcohol and other drug use are on the rise, harassment and violence continue
to make headlines, and teenage depression and suicide risk are ever present.
It is clear these actions are not only seen in troubled youth,
but in children from all walks of life. They need support, education and
information to engage in healthy behavior.
It takes
a concerted and integrated effort by all community members to effectively
make a difference in the lives of its youth. Mr. Modzeleski will address
the importance of community and school-based initiatives in creating healthy
lifestyles and the varied challenges to creating safe, disciplined, and
drug-free environments. He will discuss the challenges faced in addressing
risky behavior and the important role everyone must play in making a positive
difference in the future of our children.
